Appliances
There are people who, out of different reasons, prefer to make things themselves rather, than buy in a shop. Sometimes home-made things are the original inventions which can not be bought at all, sometimes they are made to be cheaper than in a shop. In the postindustrial era broken devices are thrown away, as their reparation is too expensive. There is an entire subculture feeding itself on these rejected objects, using them as a raw material for a home production of needed things. The internet exchange of cheap used items helps to gather construction elements for home-made devices, as well as instructions or help how to make them.
During my stay in New York I decided to find people, who constructed something for their own use, and photograph them together with their devices.
